This is my last post, today I end my residency on LACMAs instagram. I was having a hard time finding the right post to end this residency, then I thought why not go full circle and end a similar way I began the residency. It is also a reminder to never forget where I came from. The streets were the first to teach me about art and I will always honor that. Here's a video I took last night of the housing projects in Boyle heights-Estrada Courts. It was somewhat spontaneous like most times I go for drives and enjoy the city. This time it was with my sister. We ended our night at Elysian park overlooking at the beautiful city of Los Angeles. Thank you to everyone who has supported and followed my posts here on @LACMA. In December I will be having an exhibition at Bemis Center For Contemporary Arts in Omaha where I will be showing material from my archive collection - videos, photographs and artifacts from Southern California youth culture. "Electoral College (2016) was inspired by the November 2016 presidential election results. There was a strange unsettled feeling in the air mixed with fear and tears. Many people were displaced by the results. Everyone who didn't vote for the current president knew that there would be a steep uphill battle in the following years. Things needed work and needed to be fixed. The neon series I was creating always lit up, with Electoral College, I was playing with the idea of things not functioning in certain areas, much like signage we see around town signs flickering or letters dimmed out."-Patrick Martinez @patrick_martinez_studio

Beautiful exhibition at Vincent Price Art Museum. The exhibition LAURA AGUILAR: SHOW AND TELL gave me the opportunity to view the extensive body of work of photographer Laura Aguilar where I made connections in reference to queer Latinx brown bodies. Presented throughout the exhibition are the central themes and creative processes Aguilar undertook from the 1980s through her latest series produced in 2007. *SWIPE LEFT for photos*
Aguilar s now iconic triptych, Three Eagles Flying (1990), set the stage for her future work by using her nude body as an overt and courageous rebellion against the colonization of Latinx identities racial, gendered, cultural and sexual. Her practice intuitively evolved over time as she struggled to negotiate and navigate her ethnicity and sexuality, her challenges with depression and auditory dyslexia, and the acceptance of her large body. This exhibition tells the story of the artist who for most of her life struggled to communicate with words yet ironically emerged as a powerful voice for numerous and diverse marginalized groups.

A great exhibition by artist Eduardo Sarabia (@physicz1) opens tomorrow at The Mistake Room. Thank you Eduardo (and The Mistake Room) for the wonderful walk-through and chat today. I spent a good amount of time in the show and each moment revealed something familiar to me. I left thinking about my family in Michoacán Mexico and the things I witnessed while visiting them as a kid, most of which I couldn't understand at the time. I won t say too much about the show because I want you to experience it firsthand.

The Mistake Room is pleased to present Eduardo Sarabia: Drifting on a Dream the Los Angeles-born, Guadalajara-based artist s first solo exhibition in his home city in nearly a decade.

A selfie with Judith F. Baca's "Las Tres Flores" (1976) part of the group exhibition Radical Women: Latin American Art, 1960 1985. Opens tomorrow at The Hammer museum. MUST SEE!

Radical Women: Latin American Art, 1960 1985 will give visibility to the artistic practices of women artists working in Latin America and US-born women artists of Latino heritage between 1960 and 1985 a key period in Latin American history and in the development of contemporary art. Fifteen countries will be represented in the exhibition by more than one hundred artists, with 260 works in photography, video, and other experimental mediums.

This entire exhibition is Edecán Dress and Cape from the 1968 Olympics (1968) and J.C. De Luna's (@barriodandy) Pachuco suit are beautifully displayed in the exhibition "Found in Translation: Design in California and Mexico, 1915 1985" at LACMA. When you go see the show, make sure to check out the amazing posters and old school graphic design for the 1968 and 1984 Olympics. This show is part of PST LA/LA
